Locks of Love

Donating your hair to Locks of Love is the most rewarding makeover. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. It's and honor to play a small part in this mission. Let me know if you want to make a donation!

Wedding Preview Event

I'm am pleased to announce that I have chosen to be one of the hair stylist participating in the Wedding Preview Event! It's an alternative approach to planning your wedding. I'm excited for the opportunity to team up with local vendors and meet soon to be brides! I have a few tickets to this event, so please let me know if you are interested in attending! Tessa & Jonathan Married!

It was a gorgeous sunny day in downtown Tacoma for Tessa and Johnathan's sweet union. They were wed at The Tacoma Glass Museum earlier this month. The first thing on her to-do list was to be beautiful! I was glad to help. She radiates beauty from the inside out. And, yes, all that hair is hers!

Love

Homelessness is a crisis, especially for children. Without a stable home and the most basic needs, they are vulnerable to many problems and a continued cycle of instability. The reasons for homelessness vary. A layoff, addiction, and domestic violence to name a few. At the Rescue Mission, they work with families to overcome problems, make changes, and find affordable housing and employment. I see positive change in these women and children from one visit to the next. It is a pleasure to volunteer with this program. A haircut may not be as vital as a meal or shelter, but it can sure boost self esteem. I brings us great joy to pamper people and let them know they are loved. We are so blessed. Take time to be a blessing to others. You will get more in return than you could ever give.

Kelli & Jason married on Crystal Mountain!

Mid 50' and snow made for a chilly June wedding for this pair on Crystal Mountain! It sure was beautiful though with their pear green accents. It was a pleasure styling Kelli's bridal party in their cozy lodge. Getting married in a cloud is not ideal for hair, yet the girls all looked good! Congratulations Kelli & Jason!

"Instantly I am conflicted. An email from the marketing department of one of the largest athletic apparel companies in the world. A simple request, drawing to mind a complex array of thoughts. A photo, taken from my personal camera of my buddy, 2006 NFL MVP Shaun Alexander, somehow catches the eye of a big shot at this company– and now they’d like to use my photo on a billboard. Cool, right? Then why does everything in me want to tell this guy to “shove off?”
Maybe because my heart is cold to the Machine. A Machine that sells Mediocrity to the Majority. A Generation of Conglomerates that use Super-Stars like pawns to sell products to the Youth of the Nation, disregarding elements of Substance, Character, and Integrity desperately lacking from so many of these same Super-Stars. A vast sea of sameness, with different logos. My heart is cold to this machine, and I can no longer be a part of it. You cannot have my photo. You cannot have my fashion. I am tired of fitting into corporate boxes. I'm am tired of being expected to conform. I am tired of the mediocrity. I want more.

Emily & Kyle are such a fun, young couple! I loved the lace headband we incorporated into this cute redheads updo. They were wed at church in Olympia, WA. Their photo booth captured their hilarious personalities. Blue accents were a beautiful touch on, as Emily would put it, the Best Day Ever!
